Welcome to the Depository
The Film Depository mainly serves the purpose of giving me an easy way to keep track of all of the film writing that I have sent out into the magical and confusing world of the internet. I have been a staff writer for two different film-centric websites, The Oscar Igloo (now Awards Central) and Box Office Prophets. I have also had my work posted on the pop culture-centric website Overthinking It. This site will mainly consist of excerpts from and links to those articles, although I may post full pieces that do not fit the themes of any of those sites.
Who I Am: My name is Tom Houseman, I grew up in Northern New Jersey and developed a passion for film while in high school. In 2009 I graduated from Bard College as an American Studies major. My senior thesis was titled “From Killing Kenny to Spoofing Scientology: How ‘South Park’ Became an American Landmark.” I currently live in Austin where I work as a server. This winter I plan on making a movie, the script for which I wrote this spring. In the future I plan to apply to the NYU “Media, Culture and Communication” Graduate Program. I enjoy baking.
